The Honorable Rand Paul United States Senate 208 Russell Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 RE: S. 2122 Dear Senator Paul, Mission creep in all federal agencies in the form of onerous
regulations is having an adverse impact on the lives of American citizens. Our property rights are being treated as privileges
that can be dismissed at the whim of unelected bureaucrats. Few of these regulations rise to the level of
agency arrogance as does the proposed clean water act guidance document on
navigability that is soon to be released. The EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers are attempting to
take on powers reserved exclusively to the Legislative branch of government and
contrary to the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinion in the Rapanos case. These
agencies are out of control and Congress needs to exercise its oversight to
curb their insatiable appetite for power over the nation’s citizens and their
property. We at Freedom21 believe that the protection of property
rights is a major foundation of our liberty.
We strongly support your effort to bring logic and science to bear on
decisions affecting the environment.
That support extends to having Congress exercise its powers to force
these errant federal agencies to abide by the laws made in accord with the U. S.
Constitution. The
Board of Directors of Freedom21 strongly supports your efforts to protect
private property rights through the introduction of S. 2122. We encourage the members of the Senate and
House to sign on as co-sponsors of this legislation which is to be introduced
in the House. Sincerely,
Howard Hutchinson,
Chair
